Soapbox

From John G0RDO, SKCC #2133T

I only got on the radio for 45 mins or so and managed two QSO's. I did hear quite a few stations but they were very weak and down in the noise, plus QSB. The two QSO's were both on 20m, and thanks to WK2S / Art in NJ and WD8AFB / Keith in FL.

A big pump key was used - a Marconi PS No213A. Rig - TS-440SAT, 100w to a Cushcraft MA6V vertical. For 40m & 80m I used my H/brew bottom loaded 20ft tall fishing pole vertical. Although I didn't get any QSO's on 40 or 80m, I did notice 80m was full of loud European sigs. down in the DX part of the band. A few calls on 3.550MHz were fruitless, but I did hear F5DE down in the noise.

Just got in the last hour as usual due to my work schedule but had fun. Bands were fairly quiet, didn't hear any EU stations aside from one Spain station that wasn't on the sprint. I did work Panama (Santi, HP2SM), my furthest contact and had a nice 2-way QRP QSO with Al N4OW. Had a nice leisurely QRS QSO in the extended 15 minutes with Roy AC9DN. My photo shows me with my beloved Nye Viking Speed-X straight key, my pride and joy, the nicest feeling straight key I have ever used. 72/73 all, Rick

From TONY G3ZRJ, SKCC #3492

Conditions not wonderful on 20M but good to work USA stations. No activity noted on lower bands from Europe.

Look forward to meeting old and new friends in the next event. Junker WW2 German Navy Key with IC-7400 and G5RV antenna used during SKSE.

From Peter EA8/DL3PB/P, SKCC #12726

Vacation is no excuse to miss a SKSE -

worked AH6AX, N4OW and WK2S portable from la Gopmera/Canary Islands, as always QRP 2W into a vertical on the roof-top built around a 6m collapsable fiber-pole.

Muchas Gracias y Hasta Luego, Senores!
