Soapbox

From John G0RDO, SKCC #2133S

Had a lot of fun and got 15 QSO's in the log. 20m was the best band but had a lot of noise to contend with.

For 20m and 15m I used a Cushcraft MA6V small vertical up 20ft, and for 40m used a 20ft fishing pole vertical

mounted 3ft off ground. Rig Kenwood TS-440S at 100 watts, with a wonderful Marconi PS 213A big pump key ex Portishead Radio GKA. UK

40m = F5DE Bernard, OS0S Leon, GM3ZDH Bob, EA3NO Lluis.

20m = F6EJN Bob, K3WW Chas, IZ2QXG Gino, W3NP Dave, W5ZR Bert, EA4BL Fer, SP7OGP Piotr, WA3GM Greg, W2NRA Art, YU7AE Kare.

15m = LW3EX Walt.

From Dave W3NP, SKCC #3182S

Best ever SKSE for me. Condx were decent (by current standards) and there seemed to be a lot of activity. All QSO's on 20 except for Walt LW3EX on 15.

I did run QRO at 500 watts with the Elecraft K-Line, and the antenna was my KLM KT-34A @ 16m.

Still practicing with my cootie keys. Used a Vizkey for this event.

Welcome to non-members SO6/DL1HTW and YO4VM.

From Bob F6EJN, SKCC #508S

working only one hour. 73 Bob

From Curt WA2JSG, SKCC #3018S

Just 4 contacts for me, F5UQE F6EJN IZ2QXG OS0S, and that's fine for this little 75w station from a vertical for the amount of time I put into it. Makes me happy.

From BOB AA6AC, SKCC #6276S

SURE tried but herd nothing on 20m...maybe herd W5ZR but only very weak and once only and gone AA6AC Bob 6276S CA.

From Bernard F5DE, SKCC #6247S

As usual I used about 70 watts CW and a GP antenna on the gras. Keys were : a Vibroplex Original for 13 wpm, a Lionel J36 for 16 wpm, a Speed-X bug for 18 wpm and a Nato pump key for very slow speeds if needed. Always a pleasure to have contacts with SP2SWI, K3WW, WA3GM, W5ZR, VE3DTI and AF2Z on 20 m, OS0S, G0RDO, ON7DQ, GM3ZDH, YU7AE, G4AEI (NM), F5UQE, SP2SWI, PA3DQD (NM), 9A2V, SP7OGP, IS0BZR, EA3NO, CT1DGH on 40 m, ON7DQ, GM3ZDH, G4LNA on 80 m.

On the photo, I am using a very big pump key in 1995 during a Ham Meeting and... that worked !

73 and see you all next time !

From Kare YU7AE, SKCC #5790T

Using old Yaesu FT-901DM, abt.100W output into modified Windom antenna. Key is Junkers SK. Bad propagation, I played little bit with noise canceler unit, it helped on 20m, he pushed s8-9 noise on s4-5. Thanks for nice activity, hope cuagn in better conditions.

From Chas K3WW, SKCC #14962S

Fairly busy SKSE.

From Art W2NRA, SKCC #11634S

I like this sprint. It could be great. It's a shame it doesn't get more attention. I can't help but think if it got quicker scoring turnaround, would the activity be greater? I wonder how many don't turn in a score because they give up on waiting for the score entry to be available. As I already stated, I like this sprint. What can we do to make it better? 73 Art W2NRA 11634Sx5

From Jose VE3DTI, SKCC #7020T

With an Icom 706MKIIG @ ~50W, an EndFed wire at ~40 Ft and a Scheunemann Kleine Handtaste I had the pleasure of contacting (all in 20m): Bernard F5DE, Gino IZ2QXG, Manu EA2DD (not yet an SKCC member) and Bob F6EJN. 73 de Jose VE3DTI.

From Joao CT1DGH, SKCC #13987

Just half a hour of SKSE, but happy to participate.

As usual, using a Kenwood TS-940 to a 5 band homemade hexbeam and 40m double "bazooca" antennas. Under my hand, a Begali Spark Key. Best 73 to all. Joao

From Matt OZ6OM, SKCC #15045

Hi

This was my first SKCC event, but proberbly not the last. Normally I would decribe myself as a keen Contester a.o.

Not being a contest, this Sprint certainly have an edge in this direction.

It took me a few QSO to become used to the old Roman officers, I think I missed the first one, but never mind.

I decided to go QRP in this event, I even got some good reports, but QRP contesting learned me the the best substitute for power is good antennas. So at this event I QRV from clubs QTH with a 5 bander up 100 ft.

Rig was a FT-950 with my naigbour key (Swedish key). What was really hard, was to stay at 12wpm in the first and last quater when comfortable speed is 16-17wpm at straight key, but I think I managed, though with quite some rows of e´s though...

I have a apology to give, a station was calling me keying with a sidesweeper/Viproplex, I was not able to read the writing, proberbly due to a ultra short dot. I´m sorry, but I´m afraid it will happen again ;-)

Unfortunally I have not been able to find the SKCC at the list of contests/sprints in the contest program I normally use, so this time it became a paperlog.

For good order the QSO´s made is;

18.58 14 MHz CW K3WW 599 599 14962 PA Herb

19.19 14 MHz CW EA3NO 599 599 6652 ESP

19.52 14 MHz CW KJ1RE 559 559 16270 NH Larry

20.17 14 MHz CW ON5UK 559 559 13764T BEL

20.38 14 MHz CW W3NP 599 599 3183S WV Dave

20.44 14 MHz CW 9A2VJ 599 599 2533C CRO

21.01 14 MHz CW CT1DGH 599599 13987 POR

All picked up, to get an idea how the sprint runs...
